There are two orchestra classes at Caddo Magnet High School. The Chamber Orchestra, which meets first period, consists of students with more than 4 years orchestral experience. Students enrolled in this course receive a 5.0 quality point in GPA. The String Orchestra meets second period and is for students with less experience. Students enrolling in Orchestra class must have a minimum 3 years of experience playing the violin, viola, cello or bass. The class fee is $100.
Louisiana All-State Orchestra auditions are held in September. Caddo Magnet High consistently has more string students in All-State Orchestra than other high school in the state. All-State Orchestra rehearses and performs for the Louisiana Music Educators Convention in Baton Rouge, Louisiana the weekend before Thanksgiving. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors with a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are eligible to apply for an Academic All-State award.

Chamber Orchestra students have the opportunity to audition in October for the prestigious Concerto Competition. The Orchestra classes are combined to perform for the LMEA District Eight Large Ensemble Orchestra Assessment Festival in late February/early March. Orchestra students have the option to participate in the Caddo Parish Honor Orchestra. This group performs during Art Break in late April.
