George Rodrigue Art Contest Winners

George Rodrigue is a famous artist from Louisiana that is best known for the “Blue Dog”.  While Mr. Rodrigue passed away in 2013, the George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts continues to thrive under the direction of his son Jacques Rodrigue.  The Foundation supports an art scholarship contest each year for high school students in Louisiana.  This year’s theme was Cosmos.

Over 740 students submitted entries, and three Caddo Magnet students made it into the final round of the competition.  Congratulations to Anna Claire Graham for placing 11th overall and winning a $1000 scholarship with her work titled “Storyteller”.  Congratulations to Ben Leethy for placing 10th overall and winning a $1500 scholarship with his work titled “Unexplored”.  Congratulations to Abbygail Nickels for placing 8th overall and winning a $2500 scholarship with her work titled “Neptune”.

The students received their awards at a luncheon held in their honor at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel.  Along with the scholarship prizes, they also received art supplies, a book, and a George Rodrigue print.
