Caretia Washington, a senior, was selected as one of the six finalists in the 2016 Louisiana Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS), says Kris Clements.
Washington investigated the role of several cytokines, cell messengers, in Alzheimer’s Disease. Her mentor is Dr. Steven Alexander of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Physiology.
The Junior Science and Humanities Symposia program is jointly sponsored by the United States Departments of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, in cooperation with leading research universities throughout the nation.
She is additionally one of 10 students chosen from the Shreveport-Bossier area for the Science & Medicine Academic Research Training (SMART) Program at LSUHSC for the 2015-2016 school year.
