Sept 14 – Sept 18

Junior Parent Night will be held Tuesday, September 15, at 6 p.m. in the PAC. Parents of juniors and junior students are highly encouraged to attend. Bring paper and a pen if you would like to take notes. Mrs. Miles, the junior counselor, will be discussing Graduation Requirements, Diploma Endorsements, TOPS, College Credits, College Admissions and Expenses, Testing, Counseling Department Services, and much more. As you can tell, if it applies to the junior year of high school, it will be discussed.

9th Graders Parent Information Night in the PAC. Topics will include college planning, when to take the ACT, how to earn college credit in high school, and much more. This is an informational meeting you don’t want to miss to be presented by Mrs. Kesha Simmons.

The PSAT/NMSQT will be administered on October 14. Priority registration for juniors will be September 14-18. Registration will open to sophomores September 21-25. The final day to register for the test will be September 25 (or whenever the last test is sold). Tests are limited and will be sold on a first come first serve basis. Students wanting to take the PSAT need to submit their registration form, along with their $15 fee, to Mrs. Miles or Ms. Moore in the Counselor’s Complex. A limited number of fee waivers are available for juniors who meet eligibility criteria.

Registration forms were distributed to juniors (through the English III classes) on Friday, September 11. They will be distributed to sophomores (through the English II classes) on Friday, September 18. All sophomores and juniors are encouraged to take the PSAT; it is the practice test for the SAT. The PSAT taken during the junior year of high school is also the test that determines whether or not students qualify for National Merit standing.

PSAT 9 Registration – 9 will be administered on November 9. Registration will be open to freshmen September 21-25. The final day to register for the test will be September 25. Registration forms will be distributed through the English I classes on Friday, September 18. Students wanting to take the PSAT 9 need to submit their registration form, along with their $10 fee, to Mrs. Miles or Ms. Moore in the Counselor’s Complex.
