Connie Zhang scored a perfect score on the ASMA 2 Mathematics Competition on November 12. The ASMA is an International Mathematics Competition for high schools and junior colleges. Congratulations!

The debate team won the Advanced CX Division at Bolton High School in Alexandria for the 5th year in a row. 1st place Jake Crusan, Madelyn Gaharan: 2nd place Ethan Courtman, Malcolm Morris: 3rd place Dain Ross, Harmon Partiquin and 4th place: Hannah Ross & Areion Washington. In the NCX Division, the following teams made it to semis: Mattie Harris, Kevin Branch, Lillie Thibodeaux, and Ellen Patterson.

This year’s Pack the Pod Food Drive was a huge success! We collected a total of 11,769 pounds of food. This is 6,569 pounds more than last year. Caddo Magnet ended up with 11.3 pounds per student. WE WON 1ST PLACE and $1000 in the 2015 Pack The Pantry Food Drive Competition!

The Maecenas Society presents the 18th Annual Mary Jane Malone Lecture Series on Tuesday, December 1, at 6:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Sarah Kay, nationally renowned spoken word poet, is the guest author. This lecture is free and open to the public.

Schedule change request forms for the second semester are in the plastic rack in the office. Requests must have a parent signature and the deadline is Friday, December 4.

Shuddersome: Tales from Poe has been rescheduled for Wednesday, December 2, 6:00 p.m. in the Lecture Hall.

The second Magnet JAMbalaya Muzik Festival will be Sunday, December 6, from 1 – 4:30 p.m. here at CMHS (festival opens at 1, music starts at 1:30). Tickets are $8 in advance (purchase on D-wing during lunch), and $10 the day of the festival. Performers will include Allison Huffty, Victoria Wells, Emily Elliott, Chelsea Romph & Paige Cox, Johnum Palado & Jemma Seaton, Evoke the Speechless, Jazz Junction, and The Faculty Band. Join us for an amazing afternoon of music, food, and fun. Proceeds will go to service projects for the Valencia Community Center. See Mrs. McDowell, Mr. Lerchie, or Mr. Bias for more information.

The Student Library Association will host a Book Fair December 7-10th. There will be books for all ages, perfect for any holiday shopping list. Proceeds will help send our members to the state convention in February. Thank you for supporting us.
