The following students competed in the 2016 Louisiana Region I Science and Engineering Fair. First place winners are eligible to compete at the Louisiana State Science and Engineering Fair to be held March 23, at LSU Baton Rouge. Caddo Magnet won the 1st place Sweepstakes Award. Additionally, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st places overall went to Ankur Khanna, Margaret McNew, and Meghana Rao, respectively. These three students will represent Caddo Magnet at the 2016 International Science and Engineering Fair to be held May 8-13 in Phoenix, AZ. Congratulations!

Isabella Van Savage, Alexandra Prymek, Blaise Willis, Alicia Smith, Alexander Witt, Caretia Washington, Amir Kaskas, Jemma Clary, Ajaya Tummalla , Xiang Tang, Behram Dossabhoy, Daiwei Lu, Lilly Kamberov, Kristen Adams, Tobias Kallenberg, Palmer Miley, Dakota Simpson, Ean Marsh, Ann Pozniak, Srikhar Chilikuri, Rebecca Hutchinson, Jacqueline Van Savage, Sunjay Letchuman, Johnum Palado, Lawrence Shi, Ruth Bodily, Ankur Khanna, Morgan Roque, Ashley Smith, Johnny Van Savage, Robert Brown, and Mary Holley

Forty-eight of our science students competed in the Engineering Olympics competition at SciPort on February 23. Teams winning medals were Robotics Red, Robotics Gold, Electrical Red, Aeronautical Red, and Structural Gold.  Congratulations to all!

 

Last weekend at the Acadiana Speech and Debate Tournament, Joanitah Nakiggwe advanced to the final round in Original Oratory and Jake Crusan and Palmer Miley won first place in policy debate. Congratulations!

 

Congratulations to the Quiz Bowl team, which won first place at the regional tournament on February 27, at Byrd High. Players were Deniz Gungor, Meghana Rao, David Lu, and Laya Tummala.  The team will compete at the state tournament in Natchitoches on March 19.

 

Michael Armes will represent Caddo Magnet at the annual Most Improved Student Celebration held by Red River United. Congratulations!

 

Congratulations to Mrs. Jackson and the Caddo Magnet Choirs! They competed at the LMEA District Choral Festival.

Women’s Choir, Beau Chant, and Choraliers won Sweepstakes with all superior ratings!

Concert Choir rated Excellent with 3 excellent ratings and one superior rating.

 

Congratulations to our track and field athletes who competed at the Northwood relays!

Alex Prymek was a gold medalist in the high jump.

Aniyah Carr was a silver medalist in the 200m dash and took 4th in the 100m dash.

Angela Vaughn was 4th and 5th in the 100m and 200m respectively.

Reese Roberts was 5th in the mile. Zach O’Rear was 5th in the 2 mile. Josh Bae was 5th in the 800m.

 

On Thursday, March 10, the CMHS Orchestra classes will be traveling to Caddo Middle Magnet to perform for festival.

 

Starting Monday, March 7, Mrs. Simmons will begin one-on -one visits with freshmen through their English classes to discuss registration. Freshmen, please be sure to have your registration cards with you next week. Also, IGP’s must be completed by March 18, and turned in with your registration packet. If you need help uploading the IGP, see Mrs. Berry in the library.
