UNICEF CLUB
Mission:
To empower youth with the resources and skills to be effective global citizens–thinking globally and acting locally for the world’s most vulnerable children
What We Do:
The UNICEF Clubs program is a youth-led grassroots movement rooted in a belief that high school and college students in the United States have a vital role to play as the voice for children everywhere. UNICEF Clubs partner with UNICEF USA to activate their local community by advocating, building community, fundraising, and speaking out for UNICEF’s child survival work in over 190 countries.
CMHS UNICEF has planned and hosted fundraisers such as Trick or Treat for UNICEF and Project Eliminate. We have also engaged in many advocacy activities. For example, we’ve hosted call-a-thons where are club members call local and state legislators and urge them to put children’s rights first, and our members have even gone all the way to Capitol Hill to speak face to face with our legislators to ask them to keep UNICEF appropriations the same. We are the first club in northern Louisiana, and we have even been recognized on the national level!
