Caddo Magnet High School Choir is a fun-loving community of singing musicians.
Choir students develop their singing voices, learn to sing in a choral ensemble, and learn to read music, all while learning the basics of music history, genres and styles. Students also develop self-discipline, concentration, and cooperation. A great deal of class time is spent on vocal and musical techniques as well as performance standards and will be demonstrated in performances throughout the school year.
Choir students will have opportunities in individual activities such as solo and ensemble festival, ArtBreak talent show, school talent shows and festivals, district and state auditions for All-State Choir, and District Honor Choir as well as group performances. Group performances include school concerts, an annual choir trip out-of-state, LMEA District Festival, competitions, and various community concerts and performance opportunities.
In October 2024, fourteen CMHS Choir students (see image below) made it to the final round of the LMEA All-State Choir auditions! This means they were ranked in the top 10 for their voice part and are also guaranteed a spot in the District VIII Honor Choir. Three of these students took 1st ranking in the District! They will all compete at the state level October 3rd.
