Remember: When you apply to a college, you can apply for scholarships at the various colleges. There is a difference in TOPS Scholarships and University based scholarships. Colleges may have specific scholarships applicable to you. Also: Many scholarships require letters of recommendation from your teacher, counselor or principal. When you request a letter of recommendation, please allow two weeks for this to be returned to you. Please also include a copy of your resume. Build your resume in LA Connect. ELKS STUDENT OF THE MONTH SCHOLARSHIP

Each month a $500.00 scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding senior boy and senior girl who demonstrate exemplary standards. Students should be well-rounded with leadership, citizenship, service, and scholarship qualities. Students will compete against other high school students in Caddo-Bossier area. See Mrs. Anderson or

Mrs. Moore for an application. Applications are accepted each month.

The Elks Lodge must receive applications by the 10th of each month

SCHOOL OF THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO

The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) – Final Merit Scholarship deadline is Feb. 1 for First-Time Freshmen Students – For more information about the application requirements visit www.saic.edu/ugmerit.

2016 ARKANSAS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP

Please Note: applicants do not need to be related to a UA graduate to apply.

Minimum criteria to apply: Incoming freshman admitted as degree-seeking student to Univ. of Arkansas, Fayetteville, 3.60 GPA, and ACT composite of 24 (1090 SAT – CR+M score). Visit the website at: www.arkansasalumni.org/FRscholarships .

DAVIDSON FELLOWS SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility: Must be 18 or younger as of October 1, 2015 and be a US citizen residing in the United State, or a permanent resident, or be stationed overseas due to active US military duty. The Davidson Institute is looking for exceptional students with in-depth knowledge of a particular subject. SPAR

Shreveport Public Assembly & Recreation

Walmart and Cumulus Broadcasting have partnered with SPAR for this year’s Black History Month Essay Contest. Chesapeake Energy Corporation will donate educational prizes to two winners. One prize will go to a SPAR after-school youth and the other to a Caddo Parish school youth. Those who submit an essay for judging must be between 11-17 years of age and must have been officially enrolled in SPAR’s after- school program or a Caddo Parish school before January 4, 2016. Applications are available in the Counseling Department.

2016 Louisiana Housing Council – NAHRO Scholarship

The Louisiana Housing Council – NAHRO Scholarship Program may award up to two, one year scholarships to resident head s of household residing in or who otherwise receive direct housing benefits from one of the member agencies of the Council. Applications and other eligibility requirements are available in the Counseling Department.

CHURCH’S CHICKEN SCHOLARS PROGRAM

Scholarship will be awarded to eligible high school seniors in seventeen states.

Must be a graduating high school senior or graduating from a home school program in the US.

Plan to enroll part-time or full time for the entire 2015-2016 academic year at an accredited two-year or four-year college university or vocational-technical school in the US.

Have a minimum grade point average of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale.
