Amir Kaskas, Margaret McNew, Isabella Van Savage, Meghana Rao, and Caretia Washington were chosen to participate in the SMART Program at LSUHC for the 2015-2016 school year. All candidates had to meet rigorous qualifications as well as an interview process. Ten students are chosen each year from the Shreveport-Bossier area.
From the SMART Program web site – The Science & Medicine Academic Research Training Program provides academically advanced high school seniors who are interested in careers related to medicine, scientific research, and biomedical engineering opportunities to engage in intensive research with medical clinicians, researchers, and academic staff.
