Talented orchestra students Johnum Palado , Nathan Lim , Pius Lau gave a spectacular performance of Shostakovich’s pensive “Quartet 8,” sometimes called “The Dresden Quartet” on September 20. They learned the piece independently in order to play it as sort of prelude to Mary Jane Malone author M.T. Anderson’s talk on Symphony for the City of the Dead. It set the perfect tone for the evening. Anderson praised the quartet, acknowledging how difficult Shostakovich is to play. Please congratulate these students on a job well done!
