Good afternoon parents! Since the first day of school has been pushed back to August 24, we have decided to move our Great Expectations (summer orientation for new students) event back as well. It will now be held on Tuesday, August 18. To adhere to social distancing protocols, students will be divided into two sessions and then placed in small groups of 25 individuals or less. Information on each session is included below:
Freshmen w/ Last Names A-K & all new 10th-12th grade students
August 18 from 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
Freshmen w/ Last Names L-Z
August 18 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Procedures for August 18:
Please plan to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early, and drop your child off at the double doors next to the cafeteria. If the double doors are not open when you arrive, please have your child remain in the car until the doors are opened. Students must wear a mask and adhere to social distancing protocols. Upon entrance, your child will have his/her temperature taken and will then be escorted to designated small group locations throughout the campus where he/she will have the opportunity to meet some of our teachers and current students, get to know some of his/her peers, learn more about Magnet (bell schedule, dress code, clubs, etc.), and tour the campus. Magnet swag, individually pre-packaged snacks, and a bottled water will be provided.
If you have not signed your child up to participate in Great Expectations and still wish to do so, please reach out to Janet Wheat at firstname.lastname@example.org. The final date to sign up and pay the $10 fee will be Monday, August 3. We look forward to seeing your children soon!
