Ashini Modi Wins NASA Award

Freshman, Ashini Modi, was lauded with a first place NASA award at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for her work with exoplanets.  Modi wrote and was awarded an unlimited grant to be able to use two telescopes affiliated with the Las Cumbres Global Telescope Network and the University of Dallas. Her project studies the presence of exoplanets in clusters of stars, as all exoplanets, prior to her research, have been found around single isolated stars like the Sun. In her research, she discovered the presence of seven exoplanets in clusters of stars, which shows that exoplanets can form and exist in crowded environments.
