Caddo Magnet junior Ashini Modi, founder of Students to Scientists, is teaming up with Shreve Memorial Library to offer virtual science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) mentoring sessions this fall. These sessions for elementary and middle school students will be held via Zoom (registration required).
A member of the Astronomical League and Shreveport Bossier Astronomical Society, Ashini is an avid astronomer and has been conducting research in the field of astrophysics. “I am extremely excited to conduct Students to Scientists library workshops with youth from our community to mentor them through the scientific method and guide them through the process of creating their very own science project,” stated Modi. Students to Scientists aims to ensure that every student has the resources and mentorship to study science.

First session–ASTRONOMY: Saturday, November 7 at 2:00 p.m.
The session will include a presentation by an expert in the field as well as fun, interactive activity and quizzes throughout. Participation in the mentoring session is free and open to all students. Registration can be completed at .
The STEM mentoring sessions and science fair initiative are sponsored by Sci-Port and the STEM Alliance.Students will present their final science projects at a science fair sponsored by Sci-Port. Speakers and mentors for each session are provided by the STEM Alliance.
