Academic Decathlon Theme Announced for 2020-2021: The Cold War!

Next year’s Academic Decathlon theme has been officially announced. We will be reading Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle, studying astronomy and the space race, and learning all about the economics, art, history and music of The Cold War!

Academic Decathlon needs student competitors at all GPA levels, so anyone interested is welcome! The class is an academically rigorous enriched elective (5.0 scale), and most of our reading and work is done in class.

Why should you sign up?

*The class provides many opportunities for enriching your understanding of material for numerous AP classes (English, History, Art, and Music) as well as developing you public speaking and interviewing skills–while giving you a little break from an AP homework load.
*The classes are small with lots of individual attention.
*You get to expand your intellectual horizons and have the opportunity for travel to nationals (and maybe take a field trip to NASA in the fall)!
*Nationally prestigious academic elective.

See the attached flyer for more details about next year’s theme. The Fee for all study materials and t-shirt is $120 (assistance may be available). If you are interested in signing up and have not done so already, please let your counselor know. Email Ms. Gilchrist at ljgilchrist@caddoschools.org for more information.
