Mr. Carey, the long-time Head Custodian for Caddo Magnet High School, retired recently.\u00a0 September 26th was his last day to work and faculty, friends, parents, students, and family made it a very special day.\u00a0 Mrs. Alexander’s art class made a large poster card that students were allowed to sign throughout the day.\u00a0 The Jazz Band, led by Dr. Stone, played a number of tunes while Mrs. Jackson’s Choir followed up by singing Mr. Carey’s favorite song –\u00a0Amazing Grace<\/em>.\u00a0 Teacher Dionne Procell selected a metal plaque that was placed in one of the new flower beds in honor of Mr. Carey.<\/p>\n

The retirement celebration moved into the library where PTSA volunteers had decorated and laid out a buffet of delicious food.\u00a0 Reverend Brian Wilson from Galilee Baptist Church in Shreveport led the invocation. Teacher Mrs. Deborah Morehead read a poem that she wrote and teacher Mr. Curtis Bias presented him with a pottery bowl that was made in the CMHS pottery room.\u00a0 Former Principal Mary Rounds, who hired Mr. Carey, was the keynote speaker.\u00a0 PTSA President Stacey Simpson thanked Mr. Carey on behalf of the PTSA and his daughter Niki Yarbough had some excellent remarks about her father and what he means to their family.\u00a0 A number of other guests accepted the opportunity to thank Mr. Carey and state what he has meant to them in their lives.<\/p>\n

None of this would have\u00a0 been possible without the work and contributions of many people.\u00a0 A special thank you goes out to Mrs. Robin McCray for all of her hard work that definitely went above and beyond.<\/p>\n

All of Caddo Magnet High School, both past and present, wish Mr. Carey the best in his well-deserved retirement!<\/p>\n
