Freshman Parents

Welcome Mustang class of 2021! The 2017-18 school year is fast approaching!  This year your PTSA Freshman Activities chair is Suzanne Phillips.   Please contact Suzanne at CMHS@juno.com, if you are committed to making this a great transition year for our entering students and can give of your time or finances.

August 3rd, is our Parent Orientation, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the PAC.  This is especially for first time Magnet High parents.

Great Expectations, our orientation for incoming freshmen, is August 8th, from 9:00-12:00 noon.

Once school is in session, the first Parent event is our Freshman Parent Coffee, Friday, August 18th at 8:30 a.m. in the PAC foyer. Come meet other freshman parents as well as teachers and administrators.

Friday, August 25th, is the Freshman Speed Meet. This popular event allows the freshmen to rotate around the cafeteria at tables meeting as many other students as possible.  We are looking for several parents to graciously sign up to chaperone, donate door prizes and provide food and drinks. The Freshman Activities Committee thanks you for your support and looks forward to an awesome evening with the students.  It is held from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

The Magnet Homecoming dance is on October 7th this year and the committee is in the planning stages of the “Dine and Ride” event.  Freshman may elect to participate in this fun and safe way to enjoy their first CMH Homecoming, without the pressure of having a date. They will dine at the Southern Trace Country Club where they may take photos and enjoy a delicious dinner.  After dinner, a charter bus will transport them to the dance at the Shreveport Convention Center and bring them back for after party refreshments and pick-up by parents.  We are in need of responsible chaperones.   Look for more information.

The Freshman Talent Show is tentatively scheduled in January with more information to be provided at a later date.

Often parents are a bit nervous when their child is entering a new school, especially the milestone of high school.  The good news is that they are not boldly going where no man has gone before, Caddo Magnet High has been well charted and parent involvement is a great way to help your student navigate new waters, while allowing them to set their course.
